Posh: Where are you from?

Shaheta: I am from the Motor City Detroit

Posh:Tell us your latest news?

Shaheta: My latest news is Beauty Shop Confessions has been released on Amazon Kindle app and the hard copy will be available the second week of March 2011

Posh: When and why did you begin writing?

Shaheta:I began writing seriously about 8 years ago while I was pregnant with my son. I began writing because it had become an outlet. And another source of imagaination for me. But my ultimate reason of writing was to see if I could complete a book therefore I challenged myself and completed several other novels.

Posh: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

Shaheta: In 2004 When I completed the full version of Beauty Shop Confessions in manuscript form.

Posh: What inspired you to write your first book?

Shaheta: Reading other authors books such as Sistah Souljah Omar Tyree Terry McMillian. When I read one of each ot the authors books I was convinced that I could do it too.

Posh:Tell me about your current book?

Shaheta: Beauty Shop Confessions is about 7 characters that work together and the story goes behind the scenes of each character to explain their personal lives. each one has a confession that need to be told in order to survive.

Posh:How much of the book is realistic?

Shaheta: Beauty Shop  Confessions is 100% fictional and make believe.

Posh: Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Shaheta: No maybe a club name or shopping center but not any of the characters.

Posh: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

Shaheta: Walter Mosley, Candance Bushnell and Terry McMillian. I couldn't just pick one.

Posh:What are your current projects?

Shaheta: My current projects are Adrenaline Rush that should be released in April Beauty Shop Confessions 2 September 2011 and I also have a young adult book entitled LipGloss Notes that will make its debut this fall as well.

Posh: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Shaheta: Yes sticking to the subject. As well as reading what was already written because I already know what I want it to say therefore looking over it can make my eyes hurt.

Posh: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Shaheta: I don't just have one like I stated before Terry McMillian. Eric Jerome Dickey Emily Giffen, Candance Bushnell. And thats just a small list lol. I pick these authors because their character and plot development is intriguing and encourages me to develop my stories longer with more depth.

Posh: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

Shaheta: Yes. In this industry its about being in the right place at the right time. Therefore I have to make myself accessible as often as time allows me too.

Posh: Who designed the covers?

Shaheta: Davida Baldwin of Oddball designs designed Beauty Shop Confessions 1 and there is talks with Toy Boxx Studios to design Adrenaline Rush as well as a couple of other designers for the other titles. I like to see different styles of creativity in terms of my cover designs. Because I don't want every other book in the store to look like mine. Therefore my selection of my designers are always strict and tough. Everyone now a days are designing book covers. Thats not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for the one.

Posh:What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Shaheta: Believing that I could actually complete it, then believing that it was all meant to happen. As well as finding the right team to edit, promote and represent me and my vision.

Posh: Do you have any advice for other writers?

Shaheta: Yes I would like to let them know that this road is not an easy one. It took me six years just to arrive at this point with confidence, assurance and support but I stayed determined to have my voice heard. Therefore they should stick with it until it pop. Also I want to let them know don't go in it for the money because you will get discouraged just go in it create your vision and stick with it.

Posh: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Shaheta: Yes I want to thank all the readers that supported my work thus far and the ones that are to come. They keep me up in the middle of the night writing new stories. I also want to let them know to continue to follow me on this journey. I have a long list of products that I want to introduce to them.

Posh: Where can we find your books?
