Grammy Nominated Artist TYGA Addresses Washington, DC Youth [EVENT RECAP]

On Saturday, September 17th in Washington, DC over 200 children congregated under the roof of Kennedy Recreation Center. Grammy Nominated artist TYGA made a stop to the center to inform the children of his organization, R.O.A.R. The event also included three guest speakers: April L. Vance (White House Liaison- Executive Office of the US President, President and Founder – Advance Project), Dr. Bilal Beckles (DDS, MS- owner of Essence Dental Care, Woodrow Dental Specialist and Smiles Pediatric Dentistry) & Victor T. Sanders (CEO of Palmieri Jeans).

Also in attendance at the event was Tony Lewis, Jr (2011 Hoodie Award Winner for "Best Community Leader"), BET's College Hill (Chris Cole), Universal artist MARKY & many other prominent faces in the DC Metropolitan area. Safe in the Streetz.org & DTLR were also in attendance showing support and equipped with some promotional items for those in attendance. The crowd was very engrossed in listening to the compelling stories of the speakers and when TYGA made his appearance, everyone erupted! He briefly addressed the children about the importance of education and believing in yourself. Some of the children attending were also recognized and awarded a certificate and tickets to see TYGA that night at the Verizon Center. TYGA is definitely an artist who wants to use his name and make a difference in the community. He is currently on Chris Brown's "F.A.M.E Tour" which also features Kelly Rowland & T-Pain.

A special thank you to the staff at Kennedy Recreation Center for graciously opening their facility to house this event. This was all made possible by La Belle Vie Foundation & BULU (Be U, Love U).
