Ascend Music and Media Academy Announces Scholarships for Summer Digital Arts Youth Program

In honor of its inaugural year, the Ascend Music and Media Academy will offer 15 scholarships to some of the brightest young artists in the Washington, DC area to attend the summer digital arts camp at After Hours Recording Studio in Bowie, Maryland. Youth ages 8 to 14 can apply for the week-long camp to take place July 30-August 3 via an online application at
http://tinyurl.com/AscendAcademy. Enrollment is open for general applicants as well.

“Ascend will give children an opportunity to learn about every aspect of being an entertainer, from music theory to lyric writing, photography and live performing,” said Ascend Academy CEO Meredith Forbes, owner of After Hours Recording Studio and Mideast Records.

“This program is hands-on and practical, and with the lack of comprehensive music programs in many schools, it will support the overall talents of DMV’s young artists,” said Ascend Academy President Natasha Brown, founder of Think Brown INK, a communications and management agency.

Youth selected in the program will work hand-in-hand with experienced performers, nationally recognized artists and DJs and some of the best producers, writers and photographers in the Washington metropolitan region.
