DMV Helps Haiti One Year Anniversary
On January 23, I had the opportunity to attend the one year anniversary of DMV helps Haiti event that took place at The Loft in Washington, D.C. Last year, after the Haitian earthquake, marketing consultant at Talk of DC Yodit Gebreyes decided to organize her friends to host a fundraiser to help the victims of the 7.0 measuring earthquake that killed over 200,000 people and displaced 3 million. They held two events, one at Busboys & Poet and larger one at the 9:30 club. That event was a huge success and raised $37,000.
To commemorate the one year anniversary of the quake, Gebreyes and crew put together a benefit concert featuring some of the most talented artists in the D.M.V (D.C MD VA) acts included DeAngelo Redman, Fat Trel, Kingpen Slim, XO, Yeah Lano, Da Phuture, Ra The MC, Greenspan, Locke Kashaul, Harmony Muzik, Bear Witnez, Amber Mimz, Alison Carny, Vince L, DJ QuickSilva fr WKYS and more. All of the proceeds from the concert will go to Partners in Health, a charity group that provides medical care and social services. To donate directly to the charity, please visit Partners in Health website at www.pih.org
