Featured Book Author: Hannah Spivey "Ebony the Beloved" [Interview]

Posh: Where are you from?
Hannah:
I'm from Miami, FL

Posh: Tell me about your latest book?
Hannah: I've completed a novel called, "Ebony the Beloved." It's currently
on pre-sale and it will be officially released next month.

Posh: When and why did you begin writing?
Hannah: I've been writing on and off for a couple of years. I became
a writer on Oct, 2009. That's when I wrote my first novel, "Ebony
the Beloved." I began writing because I have a vivid imagination
and I wanted to write a novel that has not been written yet.
Posh: When did you first consider yourself a writer? Hannah: I've
considered myself a writer as soon as I started my first novel.
Posh: What inspired you to write your first book? Hannah:  My personal
circumstances and my love for urban literature.

Posh: Tell me about your current book?
Hannah: My novel is about Ebony who is a black girl who has been condemned and rejected by her parents and peers. Like many others, she struggles with the adversities of being impoverished and accepted for who is she is. Moreover, she has difficulties with accepting herself. That is until she finds love and acceptance from one of the faculty members at her school. From that point on, things began to flower for her until she meets a smooth operator named Desmond Waltz. Desmond is a world renown entertainer who takes sudden romantic interests in Ebony. His hidden sadistic and sexually devious desires for her erupts into rage, abuse, and imprisonment. Not only will Ebony have to deal with Desmond's malevolence, but she'll be subjected to his domineering mother, who hates her teenage guts.
Posh:
How much of the book is realistic?  Hannah:  As far as Ebony having two argumentative parents, being
barred from celebrating holidays, combating with low-esteem, and difference. The rest of the novel
is pure fiction.

Posh: Are the experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?  Hannah: Some of them are based
on my own life experiences.

Posh: If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?  Hannah: It would be my god. My god
leads me and he has not forsaken or disappointed me yet.

Posh: What are your current projects? Hannah: Aside from my first novel, I'm currently writing my second novel called,
The Chosen One and my fourth ebook called, Perspectives.

Posh: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Hannah: Umm....*Pensively thinking* procrastination
and writer's block.

Posh: Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? Hannah: Mary Monroe, Toni, Morrison, Kimberla
Lawson Roby, Carl Weber, and Tracy Brown. They're a ll superb wordsmiths and they've descriptive.

Posh: Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)? Hannah: No,  but sure wish I could travel to promote my novel lol
Posh: Who designed the covers? Hannah: My publisher used a temporary place holder as the cover. The image on the cover
describes Ebony and my passion for natural beauty.

Posh: What was the hardest part of writing your book? Hannah: Getting it finished without stopping and deciding how I was
going to conclude it.

Posh: Do you have any advice for other writers? Keep doing what you're doing. If you come to a road block,
knock it down with your determination, pray, and never allow naysayers to crap on your dreams.
It's hard but you didn't come this far to say, "F*ck it." That's for suckers!

Posh: Well said, Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Hannah: I'm an inteviewer for
