BET 'Black Girls Rock' Performances [Videos]

Revered actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King acted as masters of ceremony for tonight’s Black Girls Rock on BET. The televised spectacle stems from a non-profit youth empowerment organization for women of color, started in 2006.
The show highlights the strides and influence of positive, bold women of color with tributes, as well as performances from some of today’s hottest entertainers, including Alicia Keys, Brandy, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Missy Elliott, India Arie and SWV.
The first males to grace the stage, Idris Elba, Luke James, Eric Benet and Anthony Hamilton deliver an intense tribute to the enthused audience of women. Janelle Monae was honored for her artistry and was drawn to tears in the middle of her compelling speech, concluding with…
“Embrace what makes you unique even if it makes others uncomfortable.“
Showcasing amazing women in all walks of life, the pleasantly demure Alicia Keys accepted an award for her philanthropic efforts, using her platform as an entertainer. The eminence of living legend Dionne Warwick, acclaimed journalist Susan Taylor, esteemed thespian Kerry Washington, fearless humanitarian Dr. Hawa Abdi and daughters, as well M.A.D. Girls (Making A Difference) were all celebrated.
